Technology in the Classroom

Technology in the classroom has enhanced the way that teachers facilitate information to their students. Teachers now have an abundance of resources to use in their classroom that make learning so much more enjoyable for their students. What a better way for students to learn about a subject than by watching a power point presentation or watching a clip from the Discovery Channel on the computer? Also, think about how much more information is available for students to research using the internet rather than looking the information up in an encyclopedia. When the students are using the internet, they have so many more resources available to them.
Smart boards are another awesome example of technology in the classroom. These boards make standing in front of the classroom and presenting information to the students so much more exciting than the old days of placing transparencies on the overheard, which sometimes were not always clear for the students to see.
Technology continues to enhance the way information in projected to the students. I feel that the numerous resources that we have learned about in Instructional Technology will be a tremendous help to us when we are finally in the classroom. Tell me what you think…

You stated that the Instructional Technology course will be a tremendous help to us. OH YEAH! It seems that every time I leave the class, I am incorporating something new into my lesson plans. We have been given some great resources and insight.

You are right, there is so much more information available for student research on the web. However,Mark, in his blog, did give us a great reminder to make sure students know and are kept safe on the internet.

I agree with you that students will enjoy...love...watching a PowerPoint created by their teacher or any type of video clip relating to what they are learning. Having technology in the classroom opens up so many avenues and resources with just a click of the mouse!

In response to this blog, I respectfully agree. In my opinion, students must have access to technology, especially in the classroom. As more and more funding becomes available for schools, new technology is introduced. Upon its arrival, it is important for teachers to make every effort to allow students adequate access. For example, when teaching a lesson, it can be fun for students to see or even create a PowerPoint Presentation. By making such programs available in the classroom, students are able to gain more knowledge and information. In addition, allowing students access to technology ensures the content to be enhanced and projected in an even greater way.

Technology makes so many more things accessible to us as teachers and to our students. They are 100% engaged when using a computer or a gadget of some kind. Technology is effective!
